NdFeB Disc Magnets
What Are Neodymium Disc Magnets?
Neodymium disc magnets are coin-shaped neodymium-iron-boron permanent magnets, typically thinner than their diameter. Thanks to their uniform disc structure, these magnets provide a more uniform magnetic field distribution and a larger effective contact area, making them commonly used in applications requiring stable holding, precise positioning, and compact designs.
Neodymium Disc Magnet Specifications
Neodymium disc magnets can be easily machined into a variety of sizes, and selecting the appropriate size ensures optimal performance.
TOPMAG offers flexible customization based on customers’ specific application needs in the following areas:
Size Range:
Diameter: Ø1mm – Ø70mm
Thickness: 0.5mm – 35mm
We support customization of non-standard sizes, as well as ultra-thin and ultra-compact specifications, based on drawings.
Magnet Grades:
According to different working temperatures, various magnet grades are available to ensure stable magnetic performance under different operating conditions.
Standard Grades: N35-N52
High Temperature Grades: 30M-50M, 30H-48H, 30SH-44SH, 30UH-40UH, 30EH-38EH, 30AH
Magnetization Direction:
According to different application requirements, neodymium disc magnets are generally available with the following magnetization directions:
Axial Magnetization: The magnetic poles are distributed on the top and bottom surfaces of the disc magnet.
Diametrical Magnetization: The magnetic poles are distributed on the left and right sides of the disc magnet.
Multi-Pole Magnetization: Multiple alternating north and south poles are distributed around one or both surfaces of the magnet.
Surface Treatment:
According to different operating environments, TOPMAG provides various coating options, including nickel-copper-nickel, epoxy, zinc, gold, silver, and other customized coatings.
Dimensional Tolerance:
During the customization process, we provide multiple tolerance options according to customer requirements.
| Tolerance Type | Core Process | Diameter & Thickness Tolerance | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Tolerance | Conventional processing | ±0.05mm–±0.1mm | Suitable for conventional assembly applications |
| Precision Tolerance | Precision grinding processes | ±0.01mm–±0.03mm | Extremely high requirements for consistency |
If your application has special requirements for assembly accuracy, please provide the detailed drawing specifications. The TOPMAG engineering team will assist in confirming the achievable tolerance solutions.
Applications of Neodymium Disc Magnets
Neodymium disc magnets are widely used in motors, speakers, sensors, magnetic couplings, medical equipment, and consumer electronic products. They provide stable and strong magnetic performance in limited installation spaces.
Other Types of Disc Magnets
In addition to neodymium disc magnets, TOPMAG also provides other types of disc magnets made from different materials to meet various performance and cost requirements.
• Ferrite Disc Magnets——An economical magnet material with excellent corrosion resistance. They are suitable for outdoor applications and large-volume applications where relatively lower magnetic performance is required.
• SmCo Disc Magnets——They offer excellent high-temperature resistance and strong resistance to demagnetization, making them suitable for high-temperature operating environments.
• Alnico Disc Magnets——They provide excellent temperature stability but relatively lower magnetic performance, making them suitable for specific applications requiring strict temperature coefficient control.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How strong are neodymium disc magnets?
The magnetic strength depends on the magnet grade, size, and magnetization direction. Common N35–N52 grades provide a maximum energy product of 263–422 kJ/m³.
Can neodymium disc magnets be used outdoors?
Yes. The suitable coating should be selected according to the environment. Epoxy coating is recommended for applications requiring better moisture resistance.
What are the lead time and MOQ for custom disc magnets?
The standard MOQ for custom disc magnets is typically 100 pcs. The lead time depends on the magnet size, material, coating, and manufacturing requirements.
What is the maximum operating temperature of neodymium disc magnets?
It depends on the magnet grade. Standard grades typically operate up to 80°C, while high-temperature grades can reach 120°C to above 200°C.
Are neodymium disc magnets recyclable?
Yes. Waste and leftover neodymium magnet materials are recyclable and reusable. Recycled neodymium, iron and boron elements can be reprocessed into new magnetic materials, which meets environmental protection and energy-saving production standards.
